Keith Vire Receives Social Justice Award for 2017

Fayetteville, AR, (April 17, 2017):  Dr. Keith Vire, CEO of Arkansas Support Network, was presented with the prestigious “Social Justice Award” on Monday, April 17, 2017 from the Arkansas Affiliate of the Association on Higher Education and Disability (Ark-AHEAD).

Each year Ark-AHEAD recognizes an Arkansas citizen, agency, or association that strives to promote social justice on a daily basis in their communities and statewide for people with disabilities.

“I know there are many people who have made a bigger impact on social justice than I have, and I feel a bit unworthy of the award. That said, I’m very, very honored to be chosen by this excellent group of professionals, and I will work hard to earn their trust in me,” Dr. Vire said.

At the end of this year, Dr. Vire will retire from Arkansas Support Network after 26 years as CEO. In order to aid in the long-term success of ASN and create a positive lasting legacy, he and his wife, Jan, have established the Targeted Resources Aiding Independent Living (TRAIL) Fund to support individuals who are new to ASN’s services, as well as some of the long-term folks ASN supports who find themselves in an emergency situation with no other assistance.

“We hope you’ll help us grow the fund. Jan and I believe that it’s important for people to be assured that the basic necessities of life will not be denied them.  If you agree, we welcome you to make a donation. Please help us ‘blaze the TRAIL’.” -Keith Vire

Gifts to the TRAIL Fund can be made online here, by texting ASN to 555-888 and selecting the “TRAIL Fund,” or by sending a check to Arkansas Support Network (3836 Isaac’s Orchard Road, Springdale, AR 72762) with “TRAIL Fund” written in the memo.
