A New Year Begins…

Happy New Year!

Today is not only the beginning of 2018, it’s also the beginning of my role as CEO at Arkansas Support Network. I am both excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead the organization that I have loved since I was 19 years old.

I began my employment with ASN in March of 2000 as a part-time direct support staff. Providing direct supports to individuals with disabilities to live the lives they desire in the communities that they choose is the greatest work I’ve ever done, and I will give everything I have to ensure that ASN continues to provide the best quality services possible throughout the state of Arkansas.

As we enter ASN’s 30th year, we are so grateful to the individuals and families who welcome us into their lives and trust us to provide the supports they need and desire to live the best lives possible. We are thankful for and proud of the hardworking direct support professionals who make the commitment every day to do whatever is necessary to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to be active, contributing members of their communities. And we are beholden to our community partners who promote and support the mission of ASN in so many ways. Without your commitments, collaborations, partnerships, volunteer work, donations, and support, we would not be able to do this work. Providing positive community supports requires a strong community, and we are so appreciative of ours.

A new position brings new responsibilities, new challenges, and new opportunities. While I know I have enormous shoes to fill, leading the agency that has shaped and molded me and enriched my life in so many ways is an honor and challenge I’m thankful to have, and I invite you to join all of us as at ASN as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Arkansas Support Network and work to continue the beautiful mission of the organization:

“We recognize and support every person’s right to be included in the life of the community.”

Sincerely,

Syard
