Spotlight Series: Athletes of ASN, Volume 2
Today’s featured Athlete of ASN is an incredible guy who has accomplished some incredible things. At the ripe old age of 16, Justin Zielke has accomplished something many people never will, and he’s not just done it once but TWICE.
Justin, for the second year, competed as a para-athlete in the Rampey Foundation’s Tri-fest for MS. This is a triathlon, and Justin competed in the Super Sprint race. He went through 6 weeks of training with the Tri-fest team. Every Saturday he would arrive at Memorial Park pool at 8 am, and Justin would swim, bike, and run distances building up to his events lengths. He also had two mock-trial run throughs.
When it came to race day, Justin had to swim 250 meters, run to his bike and bike 5 miles, then come back and run 2 miles. He completed his race and was second in his division. Justin improved on his time from last year by 18 minutes.
Way to go, Justin!!!
